Ruby's Shields of Faith
Thanks for visiting my Walk of Life page!
I want to raise money to help more women survive breast cancer. In Alabama alone, 3,680 women were expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer last year. I lost my mother, Ruby to breast cancer. She was 44 yrs old at the time, I was a freshman at Auburn University Montgomery (AUM) with 2 yrs into the Air Force Reserve. I didn’t believe I could go on with my goals of being a college graduate and reaching 20 yrs in the Reserves without my mom here rooting for me, but the woman she was would tell me to keep pushing on. Today, I am a college graduate with 20 yrs and 5 months of service in the Air Force. I want to honor the life of my loving, motivating and sweet mom. Also, I want to do all I can to inspire and support those affected by breast cancer to keep pushing on too like my mom believed in. She was big on supporting others.
Many women desperately need our help to detect and treat breast cancer EARLY, so they’ll be more likely to survive it.
That's why I'm participating in the Walk of Life on Saturday, April 21st in downtown Montgomery along with Future Events.
The event raises money to provide free mammograms to women who cannot afford them. Over 11,000 free mammograms have been provided since 2001!
I invite you to contribute to my efforts by clicking on the pink "Donate Now" button on my page. Every $100 I raise can provide a mammogram and whatever amount you can donate will help!
Thanks for considering my request!
